The Time I Lost a "BFF" by Asking if She's OK

Happy Tuesday - ready for story time?

Well today is the day of the Relay for Life kick off, in which I wont be attending because of friend drama. It's not really even drama. It's as if our friendship never even existed. But I'll let you know what happened so you have a better understanding.

We were really close friends (or so I thought). I literally put up with so much in this friendship. We made plans together that she would constantly back out of because she was beyond indecisive. We would be BFF's one day and it was as if she barely knew me the next day. I always let that stuff go because I liked hanging out with her, I felt like I could really talk to her, I always had so much fun when we did things together, I felt like we shared the same stories and that we were each other. It was kind of like we were soul sisters. If we were out and she had no money to pay for food, I would pay for hers. She didn't have a car so every time we hung out, I was picking her up & taking her home. But of course, none of that mattered because I really liked hanging out with her and thought I meant something to her, too! A couple hours after hanging out one night (& her acting distant the whole time), I log on to Facebook and I guess judging by my status she could tell I was sad. So she asks what's wrong and I tell her. No warm words or friendly advice in exchange, just short distant-ness. So I ask if she's OK. She says "yes, but I don't think you are". *confusion* who says that? So then I ask "are you sure?" and in response I get "Yes I'm fine and I don't have time for your Facebook message drama, have a good night Heather". What the hell? A few days later she texts me asking if I wanted to hang out. I lied and told her I was busy (I was still hurt), but ended up messaging her the next day a longish message asking if we could do something that week and to let me know when she'll be free. I get "yeah" in return. Never a text or call to do something. Never another word. It hurt but now honestly, I'm okay. Would you still be my friend if I cared about you enough to ask if you were okay?

This may sound awful, but the reason I won't be going to the Relay kick off is because she's close friends with the team leader. I actually really like the group leader, but the group is small as it is. I would be sitting there with a girl I barely know and a girl I no longer know. I don't like feeling awkward and unwanted in social groups. Is that understandable? But even though I wont be attending the team meetings, I will be attending the big event in May, and I will continue to donate money to charities. I still hope to put a stop to cancer one day. I'm so happy I was able to raise $50 towards this cause, thanks to my lovely sponsors.

Sexual Innuendos

Am I the only child who laughs hysterically when hearing a sexual Innuendo? For those who don't know what that is, it's basically a saying or question that has a double meaning that for the dirty minders can also interpret a meaning about sex.

e.g.

"I'm leaving this place. Do you want to come?"

"Your body is a wonderland and I want to be Alice"

These ones are pretty boring, but you get the point. EVERY time I hear something that can be turned into something sexual, my mind automatically goes into the gutters and I either blush or laugh hysterically. Wanna know something even more sad then this? Without realizing I always seem to say something that can have a double meaning, I always catch myself right after it's said and I will always laugh. AT MYSELF.

...I never said I was normal...

Well last night I went to Olive Garden with my good friend. I was chowing down on the salad. There's these little jalapeno peppers that come with the salads

that I love to eat because I'm a spicy food freak. As I go to bite into one it makes this disgusting squirting sound and automatically we both start laughing like crazies.

Her: That sounded gross, what was that?
Me: I know, I don't know it's like filled with liquid (laughs harder holding the pepper away from me)
Her: Just eat it
Me: (laughs even harder) I can't every time I try to bite it it squirts at me!

...and this was only part of it...

All of this resulted in me getting death stares from the lady at the table in front of me. I didn't care though, life was just too darn funny at the moment. To wrap it all up. I have the mind of a pre teen boy. Don't judge me!

Conversations Today

I just thought of this idea less then a minute ago, I want to share with you a couple conversations I've had today. Today has been.. hectic. Conversations are exactly how to describe this day.

text message between mom and I

me: I can't do this anymore!!! :(((
mom: work for a living?
me: udk my job - these people are crazy
mom: I love you and I'm proud of you

...gee thanks for your warm advice mom...

text message between a friend of mine and I
...which I'm still in major shock about...
[short story: he liked me - I wasn't into him]
Him: I wasted my time on you B----, F--- YOU!
Me: (once someone calls me a name I never speak to them again so I didn't reply)
Him: (as if one message wasn't enough) God you're stupid - F--- YOU B----
Me: (nothing)
Him: You're a c--- and a dumb wh---
Him (an hour later): You're a wh---
Him (an hour later): I regret saying that stuff. I'm sorry. I wont speak to you again.
Him: (an hour later): I feel bad about earlier, I was just mad. I don't want to lose you.
...you lost me buddy!

I work with this freak show and told management about it because this was happening while I was working. While HE was working. While we were working practically facing each other he was blowing up my phone with these messages. I felt uncomfortable. They moved me to a register further away. Thank God.

Facebook conversation
My FB status: So this boy I considered my only true friend just told me to F off and called me every name other then my own, cool story bro!
Comment from an old friend: Only true friend? I think you just insulted everyone else you know.
...I sorry :(...
I guess I shouldn't have used the "only true friend" label. Yeah I talked to that A hole every day and told him everything and he told me everything but that doesn't mean that my other friends aren't great friends. They're great people. A hole and I just were too bored people wasting time talking all the time and I guess the "best friend" label fell into category at the moment. He's obviously nothing now.

two male customers and my conversation
Guy one: You know, you're so beautiful
Guy two: Yeah you're so beautiful that we're producers of Girls Gone wild and we'd like to interview you!
Me: (smiling - in shock): Thank you?
I was secretly wondering if they were serious about being producers BUT the fact they were war vets in their mid-80's kind of gave me the impression they were not.

The love of my life and I's text message
Long story short - I met this boy last Halloween and we did the bf/gf thing for a little bit. "we grew apart" in February- we started talking again the beginning of March, he moved away a week later. He makes me happier then anyone in this world can! I've mentioned him once or twice in this blog. He may be the reason for my moving plans and "moving plans blog posts". We're just friends. Long distant friends now, that text. I miss being in his arms. Cuddling in his bed. That house he lived in and job he worked at. This city is empty without him. I love him. I texted him today saying I missed him. We texted almost all day then spoke on the phone and SHOULD I MENTION I feel like a kid in a candy shop?! He texted me after the fact... Originally I planned on typing the text conversation because I was happy with that. But I started typing this before the phone conversation and after-text. This is what was said.

Love of my life: I have a question. Do you deep down in your heart think we'll ever be together again or just stay friends?
Me: What do you think my heart thinks?
Love of my life: IDK. I hope your heart thinks that you would like to get back together and have a real relationship. You be there to come home to after work and be there to wake up to and enjoy life together.
Me: I think my heart would want nothing more.. I think my heart thinks that everything about what you just said sounds amazing.

omygosh omygosh omygosh I'm almost positive we're meant to be!

Don't you feel like you just read something written by a teenager?  Today in a way was the worst day gone good. I was wondering if anything else bad could happen but somehow the conversation with Will just made me feel so unbelievably happy. Giddy. Love struck! Gahh. I'm done with the gushy stuff for tonight.

Oh one last thing, lovely reader...

I LOVE YOU!!

Rude Customers

Let me start by saying I don't completely hate my job and these encounters don't really phase me anymore. They used to. I remember my first week cashiering being so overwhelmed when I had customers who weren't so polite. Long story short, I'm used to respect! It's how I am - It's what I give, it's what I automatically expect. So of course, I would come home crying about things that seem so silly now. But every so often I get a customer who's rudeness really stands out from the crowd! So let me share a couple situations:

*Quick background story*
I work in a store whose whole existence relies on us selling memberships. Without the memberships, there wouldn't be a store. These people would NOT be shopping there. Sure they could find somewhere else if we shut down, but OBVIOUSLY they like the store. The cashiers are REQUIRED to ask everyone if members want to upgrade. Yes it gets annoying hearing it every time, but if we didn't try - we wouldn't have a job.

*As for me*
I'm not one of the "annoying cashiers" who wont take no for an answer. (even though It's required). When I do ask people if they want to upgrade it's usually when it benefits them - when their saving more money then they would be spending, when the upgrade cost is low.

*Gift card event*
Sometimes we have these events where we give gift cards to people who upgrade. During these events I feel obligated to ask everyone no matter the upgrade price because HELLO - a free gift card! Sometimes the membership cost is so low where the customer will actually make money just by upgrading. That's when I get into major detail. Well one fine November day, as this event is going on this elderly lady who looks as though she wouldn't hurt a fly comes through my line.

Me: Hello, how are you doing today?
Her: -silently hands me her membership-
Me: Thank you! (as I notice she would make $12 just by upgrading)
Me: Just to let you know we have an event going on if you upgrade...
Her: -rolls her eye-
Me: you get a $20 gift card!
Her: JUST RING ME UP!!!
Me: -stares with fear- okay
Her: EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT - F**KiNG RING ME UP
Me: .......

So I hope I'm as classy like her when I get older. Thank God by that point, I had been there for three months. If that happened when I first started, I would have probably had a heart attack!

Story two involves one of our top salesmen:

Him: -explains the gift card event-
elderly man: -yells- Just check me out
Him: -finishes ringing up his things-
elderly man: (insert F word) you!

This customer must have forgotten that it's Thank you! Not F you. Another occurrence happened one morning when a bunch of cashiers decided not to come to work. Being that there was only one cashier and the store was a bit busy, I decided to clock in early to be some sort of help. Well besides working before actually having to, I wasn't feeling well. A lot of people have told me I'm one of the fastest cashiers. Some people have told me that they come in to my line because I don't mess around, I get the job done. Well this morning I found out that not everybody's opinion is alike!

Me: Good morning -smiles- how are you?
Middle aged foreign lady: Move it, I'm in a hurry
Me: -black stare- excuse me? Move it?
Her: Yeah move it. I'm in a hurry!
Me: Okay really? Move it. That's a little rude don't you think?
Her: Yeah move it you're really slow!
Me: (well sense I can be the biggest smart ass, I rang her up super slow without another word)

This situation would have bothered me if the lady spoke properly. You could tell English isn't her first language! I have nothing against people who don't speak English. In fact other languages and cultures interest me. But when someone is being a witch with a B to you, all seriousness is gone when they can't even speak the spoken language properly. Plus, I know I'm a fast cashier. We were just short three. That wasn't my problem. I was bothered by the fact I couldn't tell her what I wanted to

The last cashier/customer feud happened today! My throat feels like it's swollen shut. I shouldn't have worked, but I feel like I had to! I can barely talk but I made an extra effort to make my voice sound normal, and to be extremely friendly. But I told myself I wouldn't strain my voice anymore then I have to. If the customer doesn't speak back when I greet them then why should further the conversation?

Me: -raspy sick voice- Hii -smiles-
Him: -no hi; hands over membership card-
Me: Thank you so much! How are you today?
Him: -crickets chirp as he just looks at me-
Me: -finishes ringing him up and hands him the receipt-

THIS MAN stares at me for like ten seconds like he's expecting me to say something so I look at him and he yells "THANK YOU? HAVE A GOOD DAY?" no he wasn't saying it to me. He was like demanding why me to say it in a question form. So I say "Have a good day" straining my voice. He walks off and says something along the lines of "I see your not". Um if he was trying to make me feel bad, I don't. I mean yeah I did because I always seem to feel bad when I feel like I did something wrong, but you can just tell this guy wanted to be mad at something. I TRIED talking and being friendly to him - just to get crickets chirping and vacant stares!

Oh well - like I said, these situations aren't a real bother to me anymore. Well lately, anyway! But I thought it would be fun to share them with you. A quote that gets me through the day is "Keep calm and carry on" because you can't let situations like this get to you. Rude customers are only a minor detain in your life story. You don't know these people, they don't know you so obviously they have self issues! Don't let their issues be your problem. Keep calm and let the moment pass!

A coming of age story

Hello kids and welcome to story time hour! Today I'm going to tell you about a story of a girl who struggles through consequences in order to get to the gym for a nice refreshing work out. Sit back relax and visualize!

<3 <3 <3

Once upon a time a princess in a far away town in the middle of no where, woke up a happy camper. Not so much that she had school but more so because of the fact she was going to the gym after. 1:45 came and what happens? This happened

She was just so happy that it was almost gym time. "but, wait" she said silently to herself. "I need to buy some new tennis shoes!" she exclaimed. "I could always use my old ones I suppose" she negotiated with herself, if that even makes since! "NO I CAN'T" she yelled and decieded once in for all. A minute later, Heather got into her car and drove off!

Wind her up and watch her go where she stops nobody knows!! "Vroom Vroom!!" says the car. "Where shall we go today Princess Heather?" He asks. "Oh car, my lovely car, I do not know where we shall go, I'm afraid I need some new tennis shoes and I don't know where to find them". Heather replies. "I know a place!!" says the car, and with that he turns the corner rapidly to get to where they were going! Suddenly, they stop.
"whoa where are we?" Heather stares with amazement and astonishment"

This, my friend, is Walmart." car replies!
"It's perfect" Heather shrieks!!
Heather, then locks her car up, kisses it on the hood and tells him to wait here, that she'll only be a moment.
Walking in felt like walking in the pearly gates of heaven, it was a whole other universe to her, her eyes shined bright with joy and wonder!
"Hello ma'am! I reckon you buy one of our cows today" The lady greets her at the door "They make some good grub, ya hear?"
Heather thinks how sad it is that people have to eat poor innocent animals but she smiles and says "No thank you, but can you tell me where the shoes are?"
"Right over that away" The lady points.
"Thank you" Heather says running toward the shoes!
"Wow theres so many too chose from, where should I begin"
Usually Heather spends hours looking for the perfect pair of shoes but something all of the sudden catches her eye, it was like a gravitational pull, but only better!
FIFTEEN DOLLARS AND HER SIZE!!!!
Besides all that, they were perfect! They were light weighted, they were white! They were clearance!!

Heather then grabs the shoes and leaps for joy to the cash register!
"I'd like to purchase these shoes, please" she says cheerfully
The cashier growls and moos "Really? I never would have guessed someone walking up to the cash register, with items in their hand wanted to buy the items"
"that wasn't called for" pouts Heather
"whatever! 15 dollars" the cashier screams
Heather throws the cashier the money, grabs the shoes and runs!
Runs fast, passes the greeter who moans like a ghost in a haunted house "Buy our cowsssss"
"NO NEVER!!!" Heather wails!
Heather jumps in her car out of breath says "that was awful lets go" to her car.
pulling into the drive way, Heather jumps out of the car, rushes inside and races to get her work out clothes and new shoes on and hops back in the car
"I'm so excited to go to the gym" Heather sighs as they arrive.

Heather steps a foot inside and sings "I'm home at last" and rushes to the treadmill and runs for a good 30 minutes. Suddenly she feels something stinging on the back of her foot.
"Whatever could it be hurting my foot?" she questions.
Heather presses the stop button on the treadmill and looks at her foot
she screams "OMG THEY CURSED MEEEE!!!!"

Heather leaves the gym and explains what happened to her car and why she was out so early. She told him that she thought that Walmart cursed her and how sad she was that she didn't get a full work out.
Car laughs "hunny, it wasn't Walmart who cursed you, it was just the new shoes, when you get new shoes that aren't necessarily a top notch brand, there might be consequences! Those things on your ankles are called blisters. They will heal. Next time you wear you're new shoes, put some band aides on them and maybe get some thicker socks"
It was all making since to Heather now, the shoes, the blisters, the socks. Now she understood! and was certainly going to take Cars' advice!

Theee end

Now the real story;; I woke up dreading going to school but still went, already planned on going to Walmart after for some cheep shoes. The workers there were friendly and I know they don't sell cows. Thats not really my car. My car and I don't engage in conversations. My mom actually gave me the advice to wear thicker socks and band aides. Those are my feet and they hurt. This picture was taken after the gym. Only 30  minutes and I look like a mess haha. Hope you enjoyed the story!
